This website for students and teachers came to birth after the Jean Vanier Youth Forum in Toronto, Canada in October 2007.
It is maintained by students and teachers. We invite contributions from high school students and teachers anywhere in Canada and beyond.
This website is a platform to highlight best practices for inclusion:
- the creation of welcoming and inclusive school environments
- values or character education
- some of the ideas of Jean Vanier, internationally recognized Canadian social thinker, humanitarian and founder of L’Arche
- the values of L’Arche, where people of diverse abilities and cultural and religious backgrounds share life together.
The website includes information on L’Arche curriculum material for high school social studies, civics, philosophy, leadership and religious education courses.
Jean Vanier speaks directly to the hearts of young people. He encourages us not to cave into the pressures around us but to think about what we want to do with our lives, and to make choices that will help build a more compassionate society and that will help us be the kind of people we want to be.
“Dream about your lives! And give birth to Hope!” (Jean Vanier)
